A man who shot dead a member of the public outside a gang pad in Blenheim has lost his appeal against his conviction.
Aaron Harvey was jailed for life in 2008 after being found guilty of the murder of Carl MacDonald in September 2007.
Harvey shot Mr MacDonald outside the Lone Legion Motorcycle Club with a sawn-off .22 rifle after a confrontation between the MacDonald family and gang members.
The shooting was captured on CCTV camera at the gang pad and the footage was used in evidence.
Harvey's appeal centred on the way the trial was conducted and also sought to have new evidence heard from a forensic firearms consultant.
The Court of Appeal said in a judgment released on Wednesday that there were no grounds for either argument to proceed.
