Some semi-good news!
I have it from an inside source that a directive has been issued by the Boston Police, to include all districts of City, not just the North End; officers will not be looking for the "etching" on the pipes to ticket riders this season; however, they WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCING the existing noise ordinance on the books.
If you ride in Boston and are respectful you should not have a problem. If you are stopped at a light and constantly "REV" your engine and annoy people, or lay down on the throttle and are excessive, chances are you will receive a $250.00 ticket for not heeding the noise ordinance.
So kindly use a little common sense while riding in and around Boston, and there shouldn't be any problems... at least this is what I'm told. I was also told that most Boston cops ride and have after market pipes on their bikes which is what led to this decision.... an angle we hadn't thought would make a difference, and apparently does!
