Remember this story from last month (the original article is attached below)... well... it was a success thanks to people like Mary Sue Kislingbury and Joe Rich... take a gander at these pics... then take a read of the note sent to me by Mary Sue... still think bikers are the bad guys (or gals)?
Letter From Mary Sue to Preacher Chuck D.:
Dear Mr. DeCost,
The kids had a lot of fun decorating the helmets and for one child it was even therapeutic as she used the opportunity to honor her pet dog that had recently died. Currently they are on display at a local bank and from there are going to the mall. I apologize that I don't know which helmet was from you. Again, thank you for helping us promote this collaboration with the
MacNider Art Museum. It was a success.
Respectfully,
Mary Sue Kislingbury

MASON CITY — The MacNider Art Museum is seeking donations of old motorcycle and scooter helmets for children to use during spring break art camp.
During the camp, which takes place from March 15-19, children in grades 1-6 will use silk flowers, sequins, beads, paint, rhinestones and other materials to turn the helmets into works of art.
Helmets can be dropped off at the MacNider Art Museum, Harley Davidson of Mason City, Mason City Honda, or Mason City Powersports through March 10.
Helmet donors may donate anonymously or leave their names with their helmets.
The finished art helmets, with the name of the donor if available and the artist, will be exhibited at several businesses in the community, and will be shown at the 2010 Mason City MotoFest on Saturday, Aug. 21, in downtown Central Park. The artists and donors will be invited to the event for a brief ceremony.
To register a child for the camp, call the museum at 641-421-3666, or by going to www.macniderart.org.
