Lawmakers Look To Remove Helmet Law
February 14, 2011 09:25 am Glenn Vaagen SALEM, OR -- An Oregon lawmaker wants to allow motorcycle riders and passengers to ride without helmets if they're 21-years-of-age or older. 20 legislators have signed onto the House Bill would change the state motorcycle helmet law so only those under 21-years-of-age would be required to wear a helmet. Republican Representative Andy Olson said the change would allow riders to hear better and see more. The measure is expected to go to the House transportation panel and come up for a hearing in a week or so.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says helmets reduce crash-related head injuries.
