OFF THE WIRE
Senator Ira Silverstein has 2 bills out in the Public Health Committee. They are SB0055 and SB0057
SB0055 is a Bicycle Helmet & Seats which would make it UNLAWFUL for a person under 16 years of age to operate or be a passenger on a bicycle without a protective bicycle helmet, OR for anyone under 40 lbs or 40 inches in height to be a passenger on a bicycle unless the person can be and is properly seated in and adequately secured to a bicycle safety seat; and for a parent or legal guardian of a person below the age of 12 to permit the person to operate or be a passenger on a bicycle in violation of the foregoing provisions
SB0057 provides that every Ski Area Operator shall ensure that skiers and snowboarders are not permitted to enter ski ares without protective helmets and requires all skiers and snowboarders in a ski area to wear protective helmets while in a ski area.
This is just another backdoor attempt to put a lid on you

HB0292 Mary Flowers 3rd bill is the same thing from last year that would BAN anyone under 16 from operating an ATV or off-road motorcycle. Operators would have to be 16, have a valid drivers license, must demonstrate off-road abilities with a written exam on your drivers license, and be wearing a "properly fitted helmet".
You really need to read this for yourself.
This bill is in Elementary & Secondary Education Committee and the Democratic members and ph #'s are as follows
