Have been together since 2006 – recently expanded from a once-a-year ride organizer to current Motorcycle Awareness Group.
February 17, 2010 Press Release:

Donate your old Motorcycle/scooter helmet for a cause—kids and art
Art Helmets/MacNider Spring Break Art Camp

If you have been wondering what to do with your old motorcycle/scooter helmet,
here is your chance to save it from the trash heap of oblivion. After all you and
your helmet have spent many miles together and maybe it even saved your
life once or twice. Now it can take center stage as a piece of art.

What: Seeking donations of your old motorcycle/scooter helmet for the “MacNider Spring Break Art Camp” Monday, March 15th - Friday, March 19th

Where: Helmets can be dropped off/sent to:

MacNider Art Museum
303 Second Street SE.
Mason City, IA 50401
Harley Davidson of Mason City
706 S Federal Ave
Mason City, IA 50401
Mason City Honda
152 5th Street Southwest
Mason City, IA 50401
Mason City Powersports
4499 4th Street Southwest
Mason City, IA 50401

Time Frame: Donations of helmets accepted from now through March 13th.

Why: This is a wonderful opportunity for the Art Camp participants to use their imaginations and make something different and know first-hand that not all art belongs on a canvas. And the donator’s helmet becomes a work of art instead of going into a landfill (This is recycling at its best!) or just gathering dust in some back closet.

Details:
• The finished art helmets (with the name of the donator and the artist) will be exhibited at several businesses in the community, and will be finally shown at the 2010 Mason City MotoFest on Saturday, August 21st in downtown Central Park. The artists and donors will be invited that day for a little ceremony.
• The helmet donor may donate anonymously or leave their name with their helmet so that they can see what the art camp participant created with their donation
