THANKS MAC...FOR SHARING..
Several years ago, BOLT traced down one of the largest wholesale helmet manufacturers in China. Based on their website, if you ordered 300 or more helmets, the cost would be between $2 and $4 per helmet. Any decal, any name including full size helmets complete with all of the "DOT" required labels, inside and out. I am always amazed by the vast number of helmet humppers who really don't give a shit...but boy are you stupid for not wearing one. You would think that those organizations such as HOG, OTS, NHTSA, DOT, CDC, MSF, MIC and the rest of the idiotic social Nazi's that want us to be safe even if it kills us, would be a bit more involved in the actual manufacturing of these styrofoam bowls. But you see, a few of us came to the realization...it has absolutely nothing to do with safety. It is all about control.
I should mention that the helmets in the UK and Europe HAVE to be pre-tested and pass prior to being sold in the US. In the US the manufacturer just has to state that should they ever get tested they should pass FMVSS218 (Certified) By the way if anybody owns one of those helmets I would like to buy it.
You can search other helmets on this site. Many with the European ECE and US DOT stickers...prices from $2 to $20
Helmets that ‘increase chance of death’ seized
Unsafe helmets seized by Peterborough Trading Standards..
A NUMBER of helmets which were on sale in Peterborough have been seized by Trading Standards for being unfit for purpose.
Bikers who have purchased a Chinese Jiekai helmet, model JK 100 or JK 1000, are urged to stop using it immediately and return it to their supplier.
Tests on some of the recovered helmets found they failed impact tests, failed to absorb energy and therefore give proper protection to the wearer, and the chin straps could be pulled apart by hand.
Peter Stonely, Principal Trading Standards Officer, said: ‘As someone who does ride a motorcycle I am shocked by these results.
‘They failed impact tests, being destroyed within two impacts, rather the full five it should take.
‘This would give a rider almost no protection in a crash, increasing the chance of brain injury or death.
‘Wearing them would give the rider a sense of safety, which the helmet would not back up.
‘You may as well not wear a helmet, they are that dangerous.’
'If in doubt, do not use these helmets, they will not meet the legal standards, so you are breaking the law by wearing them and they put you at real risk of unnecessary injury in the event of an accident.'
