The Finks bikie club are going to the High Court to stop Queensland police declaring them criminals. Source: AAP
The club is seeking a so-called "reversal application" against a Queensland police application to the state's Supreme Court that would have them declared a criminal organisation under 2009 laws.
Police filed the application against the club and an associated company called Pompano Pty Ltd in June.
It contends the club's members associate with each other "for the purposes of engaging in or conspiring to engage in serious criminal activity".
It also claims the organisation poses an "unacceptable risk to the safety, welfare and order of the community".
The application was the first filed under the Criminal Organisation Act 2009, which allows the dismantling of organisations involved in serious criminal activity.
The club's lawyers are seeking to have the laws declared invalid on the grounds they are unconstitutional.
