Police in Sydney have charged a man they say was trying to courier more than a
million dollars worth of the drug ice to Western Australia.
Strike Force Raptor detectives were waiting for the man as he drove out of Sydney on the Hume Highway just after midnight last night.
Detective Inspector Brendan Bernie says detectives found more than two kilograms of ice, worth $1.2 million, when he was stopped on the city's south-western outskirts at Douglas Park.
"The vehicle was a utility and the drugs were secreted in an area behind the passenger seat," he said.
He says the ute has WA numberplates and they believe that is where the drugs were headed.
The 41-year-old, who detectives believe has links to the Hells Angels bikie gaxxx, has been charged with large-scale drug supply.
He is being held in custody to face court later today.
