NC - Man charged with murder after motorcycle club shooting

OFF THE WIRE
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a man after a deadly shooting at a motorcycle club meeting in east Charlotte Sunday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said officers were called to a building on Commercial Avenue near E. Sugar Creek just before 2:30 Sunday afternoon for a shooting. When they arrived, they found Chaple Bernard Waymyers dead from a gunshot wound. Police said Waymyers and the gunman knew each other.
On Monday, police arrested Jamie Reney Knox and charged him with the murder of Waymyers.
A sign on the building identified the garage as Multi Muffler, and police said the Waymyers was at the club meeting in the back of the building.
“It's a motorcycle club,” said Capt. Pellicone. “Whether or not the involved another club, we're still looking at that as well.”
A woman identified by a witness as the Waymyers' wife could be seen crying and leaning on another person for support outside the industrial building where the shooting happened.
"He was a nice guy, man, a family man," said a man who identified himself as “Johnny,” and said he’d known the victim for about two years. “A hard-working brother, and a good friend," he said.
Johnny said violence like this shooting happens far too often these days, but for the victim’s sake, he hopes police find who did it.
"He needs to be brought to justice. This guys a family man, has kids, man," he said.
Knox is being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
