MMA Alert: I-93 Roadwork will affect travel to & from Laconia Bike Week

OFF THE WIRE
As you well know, I've been giving you all a heads up on this as far back as February when I first heard about it! It's a mess!! The other day I jumped on Rte 93 North, got routed OFF the highway, detoured through Medford, congested with loads of displaced traffic; and what should have taken me 20 to get to my destination...... to 45!!

Yesterday it took me an hour and a 40 minutes to get to the Mass Pike because of the Route 93 mess.... so heads up folks, allow yourselves lots of extra time if you plan to get on Rte 93 at all... anywhere!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMMA Alert: I-93 Roadwork will affect travel to & from Laconia Bike Week
As previously reported widely, MassDOT is working on large sections of I-93, replacing fourteen bridges in the Medford area.  While MassDOT is doing a commendable job in minimizing the impact to traffic and limiting their work to weekends, this will unfortunately include the 2 weekends that define Laconia Bike Week in New Hampshire and will have a definite impact on those travelling to and from the venue through Massachusetts.

Although some lanes will be open, MassDOT is encouraging riders to take alternate routes.  Bridges impacted and recommended detours are changing with each weekend, so MassDOT has been updating the following website with information which includes impacted roadways by weekend and recommended local detours.

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association advises any riders to consider using the MA 128 or 495 hubs as alternatives to bypass Boston and pick up the I-93 north of the construction zone.  For riders along the coastline or who are within the MA-128 hub, consider using Routes 1 or 28 as an alternate.  In any case, please consult the MA ‘511’ system for current construction and traffic information:
