Two women seen speaking to Andrew Marshall moments before he was thrown to his death through a window of a Perth pub on Sunday were at the bar with the man accused of killing him.
Stefan Pahia Schmidt, 25, an associate of the Rock Machine motorcycle gang, was charged on Monday with the murder of Marshall.
The women had been at the pub with Schmidt, but after police identified the women they said they now believed the women did not have anything to do with the alleged attack, The West Australian newspaper reported.
Police said Schmidt had been at the Ocean Beach Hotel with rugby mates and not Rock Machine bikies, as earlier reported.
There was at least one of the Rock Machine bikies also drinking at the pub on Sunday night who knew Schmidt and spoke to him that night, but the bikies were not involved in the incident, police said.
Police had earlier appealed for the two women to come forward.
Marshall was a cousin of slain Feilding farmer Scott Guy.
