Gang squad keeps tabs on bikies during ride

A large contingent of police from the Perth-based Gang Crime Squad accompanied members of the Coffin Cheaters Motorcycle Gang on a ride through the mid-west at the weekend.

About 30 gang members rode into Geraldton on Friday evening, and spent the night at the gang's Anderson Street headquarters.

The motorcyclists set off from Geraldton about noon on Saturday and were stopped at a police road block, where they underwent alcohol breath tests and vehicle licensing checks, before riding north to Carnarvon.

A police spokesman last night said there had been no reported trouble from the group's visit to the region.
