Narayana Rerecich MID-COUNTY - Officers found about $80,000 in stolen motorcycle parts, bicycles and stereo equipment in a 38th Avenue mobile home park during the weekend, Capitola police reported.
One man is behind bars while detectives try to connect the recovered property with its rightful owners. So far, the stolen goods have been linked to at least 10 police reports filed in Santa Cruz County, according to Capitola police detective Jason Grogan.
"It's pretty big," Grogan said.
The investigation began Friday when sheriff's deputies were sent to the Live Oak mobile home, on the 800 block of 38th Avenue, because someone spotted possible stolen motorcycle parts in the front yard, police reported.
Deputies identified a bike frame reported stolen in Capitola earlier this month, which drew Capitola police into the probe, Grogan said.
Police and deputies served a search warrant at two neighboring mobile homes and reportedly found approximately $25,000 in motorcycle equipment stolen from the Moto Italiano motorcycle shop, $20,000 of musical equipment and numerous other stolen items, according to Grogan.
"There was stolen property all over the place," Grogan said.
Narayana Rerecich, 25, was arrested on theft, stolen property and drug charges Friday. He is being held in County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Rerecich lives in one of the mobile homes, which are owned by his father, according to Grogan.
