Century Harley-Davidson and Medina Township Police Department will be joining forces again to host the third annual “Bike to Biker event.” The biker safety event will be held 11 a.m to 3 p.m. June 5 and is for riders of all ages and all types of bikes. The day is filled with fun, safety courses for riders of all sizes and ages.
“It was really the chief’s idea,” said Pam Norton, president of Century Harley-Davidson in Medina, about Medina Township Police Chief David Arbogast. “He’s a very innovative thinker.”
Arbogast explained he and Norton were discussing ideas to collaborate on and the biking event for all ages just popped into his head. He wanted to include tips for both bicycle and motorcycle safety because both are concerns for the police department.
“It’s sort of a natural match,” Arbogast said. “It’s been growing every year. It’s a family day designed for kids through adults.”
There will be both a bicycle and motorcycle safety obstacle course for riders to show off their safety skills. There will also be fatal vision speactacles, which allow the wearer to syndicate drunk driving, for adults to try and gain a sense of how impairment can significantly affect driving skills.
All participants will receive safety lights for their wheel spokes and will be entered into a raffle to win “Be Safe, Be Seen backpacks.”
“It’s a nice family outing,” Norton said.
Free pizza will also be provided at the event and the Medina Fire Truck and Police Cruiser will be on display.
Attendees should bring their bikes. The “Bike to Biker” event will be held at the Century Harley-Davidson, 3053 Eastpointe Drive in Medina.
