AUSTRALIA - Comancheros member denied bail over alleged Spearmint Rhino brawl

OFF THE WIRE
A Comancheros bikie club member was involved in a wild brawl at the Spearmint Rhino strip club in King St while on two sets of unrelated bail, Melbourne Magistrates' Court has heard. Samson Bazi, 28, was on bail on charges relating to a similar affray in a different city strip club and a count of unlicensed driving when he allegedly joined other Comancheros – including president Mark Buddle – to bash four patrons at the Spearmint Rhino late last month, the court was told.
Mr Bazi, of St Kilda, applied for bail today.
Prosecutor Jeremy McWilliams told Magistrate Jan Maclean the two violent incidents at the separate strip clubs were a “carbon copy” of each other.
Sen-Det Jens Bertelsen told the court Mr Bazi and others bashed a patron at Dreams strip club in April last year.
The court was told that victim was punched up to forty times, and kicked and choked while on the ground.
Reading from a police summary, Sen-Det Bertelsen said Mr Bazi was also involved in the Spearmint Rhino brawl - during which victims were punched unconscious, glassed in the face, hit with bottles and stomped on.
“The (security) footage at Spearmint Rhino is very good,” Sen-Det Bertelsen told the court. In opposing bail, Sen-Det Bertelsen said Mr Bazi was a “skilled fighter” involved in mixed martial arts cage fighting.
The prosecution opposed bail, saying Mr Bazi was an unacceptable risk of committing further violence.
Ms Maclean agreed and refused Mr Bazi bail.
He is due to re-appear in court in March.
