Kansas City, Kan - KCK Police Investigation

OFF THE WIRE
kmbc.com
Kansas City, Kan., police announced last week that four members of the department's tactical unit have been arrested, released and suspended without pay after an investigation into police misconduct.
The tactical unit executes search warrants and responds to dangerous situations.
The action follows a police-corruption investigation initiated by Police Chief Rick Armstrong, following a citizen complaint. The FBI, the U.S. attorney and the Wyandotte County prosecutor are involved in the investigation.
Armstrong acknowledges that allegations of police misconduct are an embarrassment to the department. But he appears to have handled the situation with integrity and professionalism, and seems prepared to take whatever action is necessary to bring about justice. Most importantly, he's been transparent in dealing with the issue.
When the public's confidence in the police is threatened, few things are more important than openness and candor.
