PARKING rules aimed at ensuring pizza-loving bikers get a clear run at a Geelong restaurant have got other motorists fuming.
Motorists have been caught out with $119 fines for parking outside the Wood Oven Pizza restaurant in Geelong, where the Ulysses Motorcycle Club has been given special privileges to park for a weekly meeting.
A recently fined motorist who works nearby was stunned when she was fined after breaching the Saturday 10.30am-1pm “motorcycles only” reservation, The Geelong Advertiser reports.
"I just don't understand how they can put a sign up there saying between 10.30am and one o'clock saying 'motorbikes only',” Barbara White said.
The Geelong branch of the Ulysses Motorcycle Club, aimed at older bikers, meets at the Wood Oven each week.
The motorcycle-only spaces have been reserved for a decade.
The Ulysses Club secretary Ron Howell said it was up to the council to decide the parking rules, while City of Greater Geelong city services general manager Gary Van Driel said there were several signs in the area.
