> LEGISLATIVE ALERT - IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED>
>
> PROPOSED NEW HANDGUN AMMUNITION SALES REGISTRATION REQIREMENTS FOR
> DEALERS! - OPPOSE!!!!!>
>
> AB 2358 (DeLeon) Firearms>
>
> Assemblyman Kevin DeLeon, D- Los Angeles, wants ammunition dealers to
> transmit their registries of handgun ammunition sales to local law
> enforcement if required by local ordinance. If local law enforcement
> wants it, dealers could be made to do this as often as daily!!>
>
> The bill would specify that, in addition to "legibly" recording the
> required information in the handgun ammunition buyers register, the
> information may also be recorded by vendors "electronically".>
>
> The admitted purpose of the new electronic provision is to lay the
> groundwork to later make electronic register entries mandatory. Once the
> register is fully electronic, dealers would then be mandated to submit
> the register to local law enforcement only by electronic means. This, in
> turn, would allow law enforcement to automatically use their own
> computers to check each dealer's customer ammunition sales registers
> against California's prohibited persons list with virtually no effort or
> expense on their part.>
>
> AB 2358 WOULD EVENTUALLY RESULT IN DEALERS DOING MOST OF THE WORK FOR
> LAW ENFORCEMENT AS IT WOULD BE THE DEALERS WHO WOULD BE REQUIRED TO DO
> ALL OF THE COMPUTER DATA ENTRY.... AND AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE!!!>
> If passed, retailers would have to re-train their employees to do the
> computer data entry for law enforcement and to change their business
> operations to accommodate the new record keeping and reporting
> requirements. It would be time consuming and costly for both retailers
> and their customers!!!!!>
>
> AB 2358 is now on the Senate Floor and will soon be acted upon. Time is
> critical!!>
> AB 2358 would be a major operational burden and cost for firearms
> retailers that would be reflected in higher prices!!!!>
>
> Please immediately contact members of the Senate in strong opposition to
> AB 2358!

> IMMEDIATE ACTION IS REQUIRED!!
