As the weather gets warmer more motorcyclists are hitting the roads and that can mean danger if drivers aren't us some of the dangerous mistakes both drivers and motorcyclists make.
Jeff O'Brien has a love relationship with motorcycles.
"It's the freedom, the smells, the roar of the engine," said O'Brien. However, he says it can be costly, if drivers aren't safe.
Saturday two motorcyclists died on Georgia-Carolina roads. One of them in the 2300 block of Washington Road.
A driver made an illegal u-turn and hit Daniel Cohen on his motorcycle. O'Brien, a General Manager at Augusta Harley Davidson says when it comes to motorcycle safety all drivers play a role.
"Each party has to be aware of each other they have to be on the lookout for each other," said O'Brien.
Experts say motorcyclists, unlike car drivers, can't relax while on the road. Richmond County Road Patrol Deputies say they should drive defensively, always wear protective gear, and take a motorcycle safety course if new to the past-time.
If you're interested in taking a motorcycle safety course they're offered at Fort Gordon, Aiken Technical College, or you can take a class through Augusta's Harley Davidson store.
