Biggest motorcycle movie ever made goes into production~
Motorcycles are taking Hollywood by storm in what's being called the largest two-wheeled movie production in history.
And while some people aren't happy about the just announced project, its director is excited over the motorcycle movie.
"Imagine 'Wild Hogs' but written as a drama," explained Kurt Sutter, creator and writer of the FX motorcycle drama 'Sons of Anarchy, "I mean, this is something that will be cutting edge. Tarantino updates Brando's Black Rebel Motorcycle Club."

Speaking on a hastily thrown together telephone conference call for Hollywood press, Sutter explained his role of writer and director for the biker movie which officially starts shooting today.

"I've been promised we can take this one to the edge," he says excitingly, "as much room as FX has given us on Sons of Anarchy, this movie is going as far as we can and still get that PG rating."

Set along the lines of Disney's 2007 summer smash 'Wild Hogs' the movie starts with a group of weekend bikers heading across the country on a motorcycle road trip. But reportedly, things take a turn for the worse when the group of novice riders come across a gang of sportsbike riders and don't give the lawless band of 'crotch-rockets' the respect of the road.
"We're hoping this movie can show the intense rivalry between those who ride cruisers and sportsbikes," explained co-producer Tim Clearly.

"The public seems to think it's the big guys with the dirty leathers riding the chromed cruisers who are the tough guys on the road," he says, "when in reality it's the guy on the Ducati that rules the roost. I mean think about, have you ever seen a Harley rider mess with the Mohawk on a sportsbike rider's helmet?"

And the actors who will portray that rivalry? None other than George Clooney and Brad Pitt, both friends and avid motorcycle enthusiasts.

According to promotional material, Clooney will lead the group of inexperienced bikers taking the cross-country trip. Off-screen pal Pitt will play the leader of the Topeka Timberwolves, a gang numbering into the hundreds riding Yamaha's, Triumph's Daytona and Aprilia's. Reportedly Brad has asked if he could ride his own Ducati in the movie.

But it's the number of motorcycle brands that has some riding purists upset with the production. Although not confirmed, many industry experts suspect there are big dollars being charged for 'product placement' in the upcoming movie. Some motorcycle forums are claiming BMW is paying a substantial portion of its advertising budget to get its new S 1000RR included in the movie and even lobbying for Brad Pitt to ride it throughout the film.

"I expect this sort of thing from Harley-Davidson, man but Ducati should be above this paying to get stuff in a movie," complained a major Ducati dealer who asked not to be named.

Whether it's the subject matter or the big names already associated with the movie, but a who's who are burning up Sutter's cellphone to get even a cameo in the movie.

"Apparently the feeling is if they've ridden a motorcycle then they're qualified to appear in the movie," complained Sutter," but some people are going to find out that's just not the case."

Justin Timberlake is hoping to kick off his movie career with an appearance, Orlando Bloom is said to have signed up and Keanu Reeves reportedly has many Hollywood insider's making his case to get some screen time in the motorcycle extravaganza.

Since the movie draws its inspiration from 'Wild Hogs' it might be natural to expect to see its stars in this movie. While John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H. Macy and Tim Allen won't be seen in front of the camera, they have supposedly agreed to work as consultants. As it was explained at the press conference, the four stars will help actors who have never ridden before cope with learning to ride as well as acting to the camera from the saddle.

With production starting today, the movie is expected to be in theatres exactly one year from today on April 1st, 2011.
