MAY 4 MASSING OF THE COLORS & VIETNAM VETERANS TRIBUTE
Greetings CALMOAA Area VIII Chapter Presidents/Council Officers!!!
I am sure there are MANY Vietnam Veterans in your chapters, so if you would
kindly get this info out to ALL of your chapter members, it would be GREATLY
APPRECIATED!!!
THANKS ALL!!! Have a GREAT week!!!
The Military Order of the World Wars, San Diego Chapter, is
pleased to invite the members and partners of MOAA to the 58th Annual San
Diego Massing of the Colors on Saturday May 4 10:30 to 12:00 Noon at the
Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, that will include a Tribute To
Vietnam Veterans in this 40th anniversary of U.S. combat forces departing
from Vietnam and the final release of American prisoners of war. We are
proud to perform this long-awaited ceremonial tribute to all U.S. Veterans
who served in the Vietnam War. The public ceremony with patriotic music
concert is open to all comers at no charge.
San Diego area Medal Of Honor recipients and Legion Of Valor members
and EX-Prisoners Of War and Purple Heart recipients will receive honors on
behalf of all their fellow Vietnam Veterans. As in past Massing of Colors,
San Diegans will again be able to also honor our Pearl Harbor Survivors and
Wounded Warriors, along with all Veterans and active duty Service Members
and their families.
Come join the heroes for a rare opportunity to experience a
patriotic music concert, and a Parade of Flags by more than thirty Color
Guards, and the traditional Service of Remembrance that will be performed
with a Marine Corps Honor Guard firing the time-honored Three Volley Salute
and buglers playing Taps, as a focus of respect and gratitude.
* Units and Groups are Still Welcome To Join the 2013 Massing Of
Colors & Tribute Ceremony in the Parade of Flags; by replying to this
message not later than May 2 and being present for Roll Call at 9:30 am on
Saturday May 4 in the Balboa Park Organ Pavilion for Briefing and Rehearsal.
Semper Fidelis,
JACK HARKINS, Lieutenant Colonel USMC, Retired
Chairman, Massing of the Colors 2013 (619) 804-3200
