DETROIT (WJBK) -- After hearing reports about children dying in house fires and Detroit firefighters with faulty equipment, the Vigilante's Motorcycle Club says they want to make a difference.
The group will hold a fundraiser for the Detroit Fire Department so it can get better equipment.
The event is near and dear to the club. Several members are firefighters themselves.
"We want to stand up. Somebody's got to do something about this. You can't have these kids dying week after week. There was just one on Promenade, nine-year-old girl killed in a house fire because they couldn't find a fire hydrant that wasn't stripped of the metal from the scrappers out here," said David Meade.
The event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on February 15 at Vigilante's (9311 Gratiot Avenue in Detroit). It's open to the public for a $5 donation. Music and food will be provided.
