A GOLD Coast bikie who supplied an undercover cop with more than $90,000 worth of ecstasy and speed and bragged about his criminal exploits online has been sentenced to eight years behind bars.Darren James Watson, 27, was today sentenced in the Supreme Court on two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, six counts of supplying dangerous drugs and possessing a Mercedes-Benz motorcycle police said was connected with the offending.
Justice Martin Daubney told the court Watson supplied about $110,000 worth of drugs to an addict between late 2005 and 2007.
The addict then became a police informant and introduced an undercover detective to Watson, who sold the covert officer 989g of ecstasy and 314g of methamphetamine between late December 2008 and April 2009.
The sales were worth $90,670.
The court had heard Watson boasted online about his underworld exploits with the Finks motorcycle gxxg, claiming on the social networking site MySpace he earned $250,000 a year as a standover man.
Justice Daubney told the former Gold Coast nightclub bouncer that although he had a rough upbringing and was only 21 when he first started offending, his crimes were serious and warranted significant time behind bars.
"Trafficking dangerous drugs is a serious offence," he said.
"It is the means by which these evil substances are distributed throughout the community and everyday lives are lost or ruined because of these drugs."
Watson will be eligible for parole on August 1, 2014 after serving two and a half years
