A FORMER Finks gang member whose son was shot in an alleged bikie feud has been sentenced to more than six months jail for punching a woman in the face.
Mark Andrew Sandery, 40, appeared in the Holden Hill Magistrates court today, having previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, basic assault, breaching bail and community orders and a range of driving while disqualified offences.
The court heard Sandery assaulted a couple in their fifties as they entered a house in December 2010.
Sandery pushed the man and punched the woman in the face causing a tooth to go through her lip.
Defence lawyer Keith Reed said Sandery thought the pair were trespassing.
Magistrate Jane Schammer sentenced Sandery to almost seven months' jail, with a further three months imprisonment, suspended on condition of a $500 good behaviour bond.
"You punched a lady in her fifties. She continues to be traumatised by the event," Ms Schammer said.
Sandery made headlines last year when his 11-year-old son was shot twice in the leg as he slept in a bedroom at Sandery's Semaphore home.
Magistrate Schammer acknowledged the attack on Sandery's son had caused upheaval and distress for his family but said Sandery's assault on the couple was "inappropriate".
She also ordered Sandery to pay car impounding costs of $1819.
