A jury will be selected today for the trial of a former Campbellsport resident accused of killing a 31-year-old Milwaukee woman in a drunken driving motorcycle accident.

Jay F. Taylor, 33, of Milwaukee, faces charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and homicide by use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration. Both charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison with 10 years of extended supervision.

Crystal L. Daly, 31, was killed at 6:21 p.m. on May 24, 2009, on Highway 67 east of County Trunk SS in the town of Auburn after she was ejected from a motorcycle driven by Taylor, according to a Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department report.

Taylor was traveling west on Highway 67 when he lost control of the cycle and ended up in the ditch, according to the police report.

Daly and Taylor were not wearing helmets.

The Wisconsin Laboratory of Hygiene reported Taylor's blood alcohol concentration of .141 percent, near twice the legal limit.

After a jury is selected, Fond du Lac County Assistant District Attorney Kimberly Tenerelli and Public Defender Margaret Vinz will present their opening arguments.

Since Tenerelli and the other ADAs will have a furlough day Friday, the trial will continue Monday and is scheduled to last the week.

The case received statewide attention last summer when Fatties on the Lake, N741 Lake Bernice Drive, in the town of Ashford, advertised a July 11 fundraiser for Taylor. The fundraiser was cancelled after Daly's family expressed outrage about the event being promoted as offering free beer after 6 p.m. and bikini-clad women washing motorcycles.

Taylor is currently being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
