AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to
enacting the"motorcycle noise reduction compliance act"
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND
ASSEM-BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be
cited as
2 the "motorcycle noise reduction compliance act".
3 S 2. Subdivision (c) of section 301 of the vehicle and traffic
law is

4 amended by adding a new paragraph 4 to read as follows:
5 (4) AN INSPECTION SHALL BE MADE WITH RESPECT TO THE SOUND LEVEL
OF ALL
6 MOTORCYCLES. SUCH INSPECTION SHALL INCLUDE A TEST OF THE
EXHAUST SOUND
7 LEVEL WITH A SOUND LEVEL METER. ALL MOTORCYCLES SHALL HAVE A
SOUND LEVEL
8 IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN SECTION THREE
HUNDRED
9 EIGHTY-SIX OF THIS TITLE IN ORDER TO PASS THE INSPECTION.
10 S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
