Canada - TRURO - Murder suspect Greenwood remanded to Feb. 15 court hearing

A man facing double homicide charges has been remanded until Feb. 15 when he is to return to court to set a preliminary hearing.
Leslie Douglas Greenwood, 41, formerly of East Mountain, who was accompanied into court by an RCMP officer and flanked by four sheriff deputies during the brief hearing this morning, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Barry Kirk Mersereau and his common-law wife Nancy Christensen in their Hants County home in September 2000.
Greenwood is further charged with the attempted murder of outlaw biker Randy Mersereau in the 1999 bombing of a Bible Hill car dealership and with being an accessory after the fact in Randy Mersereau’s death for allegedly knowing that he had been murdered by Hells Angel Jeffrey Lynds and helping Lynds escape custody.
As well, he is charged with being an accessory after the fact for allegedly helping Michael John Lawrence escape custody while knowing that Lawrence , 36, of Windsor had murdered Portapique resident Charles Maddison.
Maddision disappeared on Sept. 8, 2000 while enroute to doctor’s appointments in Halifax. His body has not been recovered.
During today’s hearing, Greenwood was spoken to by one of the sherrif’s watching him after the accused repeatedly motioned and spoke to his son, who was present in the courtroom.
