Virginia Rep. Jim Moran (D) has introduced “The Fortify & Unite Communities to Keep Veterans’ External Threats Secure Act (H.R. 1874).”
If passed, this law would require states to create a “Veteran Registry” where vets would be required to register and notify their community if they owned any firearms.
The bill has passed the House and now sits in a Senate Committee for budget.
The second mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas gave the treasonous lawmaker the excuse needed to create a highly offense and un-Constitutional bill for our veterans, stripping them of their 2nd Amendment rights.
“We really feel that we can drastically minimize the damage to some communities, especially those in troubled ‘PTSD hotspots‘ that have become a haven for these psychopathic troops,” states Rep. Moran.
Of course, neither shooting was linked to PTSD or combat service in any way, but that didn’t stop Rep. Moran from creating this atrocity of a bill.
The federal government has every reason to fear veterans and creating a registry of them that even notes if they own a firearm will be useful when the 2nd American Revolution begins. We know our vets will fight for us…and so does our federal government.
Washington D.C.: Many veterans can remember their outrage over Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s comments last year when she stated that all military veterans were prone to mental illness and should not be permitted their 2nd Amendment rights upon returning from a combat zone or upon discharge from service. These veterans should be prepared to be even more angry when they hear the latest out of Washington.
According to Duffelblog.com, Rep. Jim Moran (D) from Virginia has introduced The Fortify & Unite Communities to Keep Veterans’ External Threats Secure Act (H.R. 1874). This law, if passed would require states to create a “Veteran Registry” using the same technology that their existing Sex Offender Registries already use. Veterans would be required to register and then notify their community of their residence and if they owned any firearms.
This bill was introduced in the wake of the second mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.
“We really feel that we can drastically minimize the damage to some communities, especially those in troubled ‘PTSD hotspots‘ that have become a haven for these psychopathic troops,” said Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), who sponsored the legislation. He went on to say that the list was like a “probation” and eventually he might support dismissal from the registry after a certain amount of time had passed.
Moran failed to recognize that neither shooting could be linked to combat service or even Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but he didn’t let facts get in the way of his exuberance.
For the safety of communities, the FCC would also direct cable providers to block access to violent war content popular among veterans, to include The Military Channel and Lifetime. Further, a preliminary letter details instructions sent to providers to censor movies such as “Black Hawk Down” and “Saving Private Ryan” so as “not to place a veteran into a potentially violent mental state and protect the community by not ‘poking the bear.’” Also, lawmakers are still debating a requirement that veterans need approval before moving to a new community.
Any military veteran should feel rightly indignant at this legislation, however liberals have a long and sordid history of treating service members and veterans as second-class citizens.
