OFF THE WIRE
The C-SPAN audience is purported to be pretty representative of demographics here in the states. That’s why it was good to see them pose to their audience the question, “Is the U.S. A Police State?”
Almost every caller said that yes, it is a police state. And many gave personal examples.
The lone caller I heard who responded in the negative pretty much said – I have nothing to hide, go ahead and listen to my phone calls. Her line in the sand it seems, was if and when she’s being watched from her television. I wonder is she’s aware that her beloved protectors do just that to computer users.
Though the question that was asked – whether or not the U.S. is a police state – is basic to readers of this site, the fact that it was addressed on an outlet that’s not considered fringe or radical by anyone, and to hear the responses received, means that it is being talked about – a necessary prerequisite to change occurring.
