Gangs Squad detectives have arrested an alleged high-ranking outlaw motorcycle gang member following ongoing investigations under two State Crime Command strike forces.

At about 7.15am today a 28-year-old man was arrested by police at a Georges Hall home and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where charges are expected to be laid.

Police allege the man is a high-ranking member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang.

A search warrant is currently being conducted by police at the home in Georges Hall.

The arrest relates to ongoing investigations by Gangs Squad detectives under Strike Force Mezen and Strike Force Eastbourne, which was established to investigate the alleged attempted murder of a Hells Angels member after he was shot several times in the driveway of a Lakemba home on March 29 last year.

The incident happened days after the death of Hells Angels associate Anthony Zervas at Sydney Domestic terminal on March 22, 2009, following a brawl between Comanchero and Hells Angels members and associates.

A total of seven people have been arrested by Strike Force Mezen detectives in relation to the Lakemba shooting.

Strike Force Eastbourne was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft of 12 vehicles from a Liverpool holding yard on February 14, 2009.
