Johnson County - Greenwood Police say a motorcycle rider encouraged them to shoot him because he did not want to live anymore.
Richard Demarco faces a number of charges. Police say Demarco drove the bike the wrong way during a chase that went from the city's south side to downtown to the east side.It started at US 31 and Thompson Rd on the south side, went north into downtown and ended near New York and Jefferson Ave on the east side.
Officers attempted to pull over the motorcycle for speeding, but Demarco refused to stop. At one point, he was going the wrong way on roads, even riding his Harley Davidson off road, through Willard Park.

Police say he belongs to the Outlaw Motorcycle Club and called another member of the club and talked to him on the phone during the chase. The man convinced Demarco to surrender at the club's headquarters.
Police had to use a stun gun to get him into custody. They say Demarco told them to shoot him.
Demarco said he was ill and was recently turned down for a kidney transplant and didn't want to live anymore.
Demarco faces charges of driving with a suspended license and resisting law enforcement.
No one else was hurt in the chase
