Club president charged in Burlington crackdown

BURLINGTON — One man faces criminal charges of illegally selling alcohol at a motorcycle club.

Burlington police said its officers and N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement agents searched the Two Wheels in Motion Motorcycle Club at 843 Ross St. on Saturday.

The club's president, 43-year-old Jason Banks of 1214 Evans St., was charged with two counts of possessing alcohol with intent to sell without a permit and three counts of sale of an alcoholic beverage without a permit, police said.

Police said they seized 170 cans of beer, 18 bottles of liquor, music equipment and $26.

Two others were arrested on outstanding warrants: Sherry Rene Pettiford, 34, of 1406 Kenwick Court in Reidsville, for failure to appear in court and felony false pretense, and Dwayne Withers, 46, of 949 Silver Ave. in Greensboro, for failing to appear in court and possession of an alcoholic beverage on an unauthorized premises.
