An application to open a Vallejo motorcycle club denied last month has earned a second chance for approval.
The Vallejo Planning Commission, in a narrow 4-3 vote Monday, said it will allow the Bay Area Desperados to speak in support of their efforts to open a motorcycle club on Broadway.
Last month, the panel denied the club's permit to open their club at 1971 Broadway, a former union hall, without hearing testimony from the applicant.
Commission Chairman Kent Peterman said Monday that the applicant had spoken to him after the meeting, and shared confusion about when he was able to speak in defense of the application.
Some commissioners shared concern that a request for a second hearing, to be scheduled next month, is a ruse to thin out public protests before the commission.
The continued hearing is expected to be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 7, at Vallejo City Hall, according to a memo from Interim Planning Manager Michelle Hightower.
