OFF THE WIRE
Ron Paul calls it "monstrous" and "unconstitutional."
Newt Gingrich says it's a "disaster" and "a total breakdown
in the legislative process."
What are they talking about? The 12-member "Super Committee"
that was created earlier this month by the Dirty Debt Deal.
This committee has been charged with identifying $1.5
trillion in deficit reduction over the next 10 years
before the debt ceiling can be increased again.
Just one problem: This super committee is at best a
legislative mockery and at worst unconstitutional!
Consider this:
The Super Committee creates a mini "super"
Congress whose conclusions will be put on
the fast track for approval without any
opportunity for our elected officials to
revise or amend.
The Super Committee's conclusions must come
up for an "up or down" vote with no opportunity
for Senate filibuster. Majority rules!
In essence, votes from seven Super Committee
members will prevail. That means seven
members of Congress (including Senators)
have been empowered to raise taxes when
the Constitution stipulates that all revenue
bills must originate in the House.
IT EFFECTIVELY TIES THE HANDS OF YOUR SENATORS AND REP
(unless they happen to be one of the "Chosen 12") AND
REMOVES THEM FROM THE REAL WORK OF CUTTING WASTE OUT OF
OUR GOVERNMENT!
Most Americans will not be truly represented in the process
while most members of Congress will be shielded from any
real accountability because they can always blame "the Super
Committee."
+ + Petition Opposing Unconstitutional "Super Committee"
This is classic Leftist elitism, not representative government!
That's why Grassfire Nation has launched a nationwide
CITIZEN PETITION to give grassroots Americans the opportunity
to express their outrage and concern over the unconstitutional
Debt "Super Committee."
If you oppose this unconstitutional Super Committee, go here
to sign:
http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?u=49292&RID=24188466
Again, this Super Committee is a legislative monstrosity and
an affront to our Constitution. If we remain silent, we will
effectively submit the entire spending debate to SEVEN
members of Congress.
Thank you for taking action.
