NORTH COUNTY — Motorcycle enthusiasts have two fundraising opportunities Saturday in North County.
Veterans Research Corp. and Biggs Harley-Davidson have teamed up to raise money for medical research to benefit veterans. The North San Diego County chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association is holding its 24th annual ride to benefit the Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots program.
The 95-mile San Diego Wings for Warriors backcountry motorcycle ride begins and ends at Biggs Harley-Davidson, 1041 Los Vallecitos Blvd., San Marcos. The fundraiser also includes a poker run with a $350 cash prize for the winning hand, a barbecue, live music, and a silent auction.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., and riders will leave at 9. The cost is $25 for a single rider and $10 for back-seat riders. To register or for more information, go to http://www.veteransresearchcorp.org/. All proceeds will benefit medical research related to veterans’ health concerns, such as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
The Toys For Tots motorcycle ride from Oceanside Harbor to Casino Pauma in Pauma Valley is open to community members with any type of motorcycle.
The Gold Angel Motorcycle Drill Team will give a precision riding demonstration at the finish line. Casino Pauma will provide a free lunch.
Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. at the harbor. The police-escorted ride starts at 11:30 a.m. in Parking Lot 1. Registration fees are $10 per person or $5 for active-duty
military members. Participants also must bring a new, unwrapped gift to be donated to Toys for Tots, which provides toys and gifts to needy children during the holidays.
