DRUGS and guns have been seized in raids across Melbourne's west targeting an outlaw motorcycle gang.
Heavily-armed Special Operations Group police stormed the a clubhouse in Yarraville as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in Melbourne's western suburbs.
Five men were as part of an ongoing investigation by the drug task force after search warrants were executed at four residential properties in Werribee, Wyndham Vale and Yarraville.
A 55-year-old man from Werribee, a Wyndham Vale man, 24, two men from Yarraville, 25 and 41, and a 47-year-old from Braybrook were taken into custody.
The Echo Task Force, which is dedicated to investigating outlaw motorcycle gangs, took part in the operation, codenamed Indigo.
Operation Indigo was set up to uncover high level sale and distribution of commercial quantities of amphetamines.
Drug task force Detective Inspector David Jones said the raids ended a 12-month operation.
"It is very satisfying to think we have stopped dangerous weapons, firearms and drugs invading our community,'' Detective Inspector Jones said.
"I believe the arrest of these men and the seizures will absolutely crush what could be described as an organised drug syndicate, which we believe has been operating out of the motorcycle clubhouse.
"We often find organised crime groups operate in, and target, the illicit drug market as a priority as it is so profitable.
"Outlaw motorcycle gangs who use firearms and violence or intimidation need to understand and be put on notice, that Victoria Police will actively target those involved."
Raids and arrests were made as part of Operation Indigo in September 2010 and February this year.
