BC's Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Enforcement Unit won't be getting this long weekend off..
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - If you're heading to the interior or Vancouver Island this long weekend, you might come across a lot of motorcyclists on the highway. The Hells Angels are gathering in Kelowna and Campbell River to whoop it up.
Police Sgt. Shinder Kirk has this advice for drivers.
"It's just the general rules of the road. Please, be cautious, that is for everybody. Certainly, not just in regards to if there is motorcycles in and around. We certainly don't want to see any fatalities this weekend. It's a start of, hopefully, good summer."
Kirk says these are annual events, and in recent years the biker gatherings have been uneventful, but at times, fights break out and crimes have been committed.
He says they have no information on how many Hells Angels are expected to show up for the gathering.
