President of the 'Red Devils' motorcycle gang arrested~

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The president of the Cape Fear Chapter of the Red Devils Motorcycle Gang is now in jail after authorities seized 50 firearms from a home and business.

Drug enforcement agents executed two search warrants Thursday for a house on Hickory Drive in the Hickory Hollow subdivision of Leland and Stump Jumpers Garage on Edgewood Road in Winnabow.

They seized 50 firearms, more than $3,000, and an ounce of cocaine worth about $1,200. They also took a 2008 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Dually, a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe, and a 1986 GMC truck.

Larry Capps, Jr. and Deanne Johnson were both inside the business at the time of the search and were arrested without incident.

Investigators said they had been investigating the Red Devils organization for almost two years and it came to a point where they felt they had to act.

"We know Ronnie Capps to be a member of high responsibility within this club," explained Sgt. Israel West. "He lives and works in Brunswick County."

Capps owns the residence and business and is the President of the local Cape Fear Chapter of the Red Devils Motorcycle Gang. Investigators said Capps was selling drugs out of the Stump Jumpers Garage.

Authorities say the Red Devils are an outlaw motorcycle gang which is affiliated with the Hells Angels Motorcycle Gang. They explained there are 20 to 30 "feeder" gangs for the Hells Angels in North Carolina.

Sheriff John Ingram said these arrests do not mark the end of his office's investigation.

"I want to assure you," said Sheriff Ingram. "There will be more to come."

Sgt. West said Capps' arrest will have an impact on the organization's activities.

"You just keep attacking and chipping away and chipping away until either they decide that it's not fruitful to do this particular activity here or everybody gets locked up" said Sgt. West.

According to a blog, the Red Devils are known as a ‘puppet gang' for the Hells Angels.
