Nevada's helmet law is contributing to the decline of our economy. Only 22 states continue to have mandatory helmet laws like Nevada's. Many motorcyclists tried to get a helmet-choice bill passed in this year's legislative session (2011).
Although the helmet-choice bill, SB177, passed the Senate Transportation Committee, the Bill was killed by Senate Majority Leader, Steven Horseford. But the fact that it got past a committee was more than any helmet-choice bill has gotten in the entire 40 years of Nevada's helmet bondage.
This law - and others like it that restrict our liberties - must go! Laws do not stimulate the economy..... LIBERTY does!
Every person who violated their oath to the Constitution and who perjured themselves to keep motorcyclists beholding and at the "mercy" of police officers and others that use Nevada's helmet law to violate motorcyclists - will be held accountable through public exposure.
The time is NOW to extinguish the corruption that breeds in the dark by casting a bright beam of light called TRUTH!
After numerous warnings that ignoring the will of the People of the State of Nevada would have consequences - this video represents the first of many peaceful attacks to come.

Santa Rosa, CA - Two Hell's Angels arrested, two sought in assault case

SWAT teams swept through the Santa Rosa Hells Angels motorcycle clubhouse and several homes Thursday, arresting two of four men wanted in the brutal beating of a rival motorcycle gang member at the Konocti Vista Casino in June.

A second man sustained minor injuries during the melee.

Prior to the arrests, the Lake County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against four suspects: John Leo Johnson, 39, of Santa Rosa; David Daniel Dabbs, 41, of Santa Rosa; Nicolas Felipe Carillo, 32, of Geyserville; and Timothy Robert Bianchi, 33, of Petaluma.

The charges include felony unlawful participation in a criminal street gang, felony assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, fighting in public and battery.

Carillo and Bianchi were arrested during Thursday’s law enforcement sweep, which included the FBI, Santa Rosa Police Department, Petaluma Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County Sheriff’s officials said.

The charges and arrests stem from a June 4 incident during which a 39-year-old Lakeport man was severely beaten during a tattoo conference at the Lake County casino.

Michael Anthony Burns suffered broken bones and his companion suffered minor injuries. Burns denied he was in a fight but the incident was captured on the casino’s video surveillance camera, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The tape shows men wearing clothing with Hells Angels logos following Burns and Kristopher Perkin into the casino foyer, Sheriff’s officials said. One hit Burns and they began to fight, officials said. At least four other men wearing Hells Angels’ garb entered the camera’s view and some of them blocked casino security guards from stopping the assault, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officials are asking for help from anyone who knows where Dabbs and Johnson can be found. They should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, Sheriff’s officials said.

Dabbs also is wanted in connection with a kidnapping and torture case in San Diego, officials said.

Now they're conducting raids over a fistfight?
They raided a clubhouse and numerous private residences over a fistfight in which the alleged victim refused to press charges or co-operate with law enforcement? So those search warrants were based primarily upon suspicion and speculation with no evidence other than a minute's worth of surveillance tape? What judge signed these warrants, the senile one who wears Depends and doesn't know what day it is? It is obvious that he does not belong on the bench. What bullshit.

Texas Supreme Court OKs 'pole tax'

The Texas Supreme Court has upheld a law that mandates strip clubs that serve alcohol charge an entrance fee (how much?) to patrons. The money collected from the so-called "pole tax" goes to sexual assault prevention programs. Opponents of the law believe it is a violation of the First Amendment and is Unconstitutional (find the U.S. Constitution).

Motorcycle accidents such as this have been on the decline in Quebec, leading the province to reduce the cost of registering such vehicles in 2012.

Quebec motorcyclists will be paying less to roll in 2012.
The Quebec Licence Bureau (SAAQ) has agreed to lower motorcycle vehicle registration prices for motorists by 15 to 30 percent.
In February 2012 they will be paying $891 for plates, down from $1,381 this year. In 2007 the price was $320.
Other types of motocycle-type vehicles will also see reductions from $23 to $131 per year.
Eric Lessard of the Common Front of Motorcyclists says the SAAQ made the modifications as a result of negotiations that took place in February with the main motorcycle associations.
Lessard says that after many years of work, the province finally recognized the improvements in the record of motorcycle-riders.
He claims that over the last 20 years the number of motorcycle accidents dropped by 350 percent while the number of riders has doubled.
As a result, motorcycle owners are self-financing their insurance claims, which has allowed the SAAQ to reduce the rates.
The highest-risk motorcyslts, those who have committed the most traffic violations will be forced to pay an additional charge.
The rate changes have to be approved by a council of experts.
Lessard said he is happy with the changes, which followed a 10 years standoff. He says the improved climate will allow them to move onto other dossiers, such as dealing with the noise caused by motorcyclists.

something is very wrong here i payed 1,414$ $$$$ for my bike this summer someone is making alot of money and not spending on the bad roads ???????? so am just asking wher is this money go????????

The article is not clear. The $891 from $1381 is only for the super sport motorcycle class. The majority of motorcycles excluding super sports paid $631 this year. So I'm guessing the $131 reduction will mean that it will cost me $500 next year. I still think it is unfair to stick it to the bikers without raising car registration as well. I agree that super sport bikes are a high risk but sport touring, criusers and adveture bikes are not. Left turning cars violating a motorcyclist's right of way is perhaps the most common killer accident one could face on a motorcycle and they are caused by inatentive car drivers.

$891 is still an exorbitant rate when you factor in that most motorcycles are only driven on an occasional basis. Its not like the majority of them are daily drivers as compared to automobiles that are..

According to Lessard accidents have gone down 350% over the last 20 yrs:
2007 cost $320
2011 cost $1381
that was a rise of over 300% over a 4 year span with less acciderts.
Somebody has been making a killing on these rates.

And so I, in the middle of the photo above, am back after a terrible year. And, since most of what you will ever read here is the product of just one smartass guy of limited intelligence I have to start with at least a bare explanation, without getting too personal, of where I have been and where we are going.
There are basically two kinds of men – grasshoppers and ants. I am, unfortunately, a grasshopper. Always have been. James Joyce called us “gracehopers.”
Ants are industrious and hardworking citizens. Grasshoppers waste their summers singing while ants store up supplies for winter. When winter comes the grasshopper starves. When he begs the ant for food the ant tells him he should have done a better job of planning ahead. Then the ant shuts his door in the grasshopper’s face.
It is winter in America and the things you read here are the songs I sing.

Take Two

Okay. Maybe that is too subtle. I am trying not to get personal here. Let me try this again.
This little idea, of taking the motorcycle outlaw world seriously and treating it with journalistic respect was a loser from the start. For one thing, there is no longer any journalism in America. It is all just selling Cheese Whiz. For another, most people who stumble into this site have absolutely no idea what the fuck I am talking about. To cover this journalistic beat accurately I have had to write about subjects as arcane as “indicia warrants” and “collective membership marks.” The only people who care are one percenters and defense attorneys. Oh, and ATF Agents come here looking for “intelligence” and for something to hate.
The site is not terribly expensive to maintain but it does cost me money and frankly in the last year I have had little time and no money to put into it. For some reason the MacArthur Fellows Program, for those of you who know what that is, has never considered me. Last year they chose the Chinese writer Yiyun Li. It is a secret process so I don’t know but I am pretty sure the MacArthur Foundation has never actually heard of me.

Plan B

I haven’t won the lottery yet either. I really thought I was going to for awhile. I had a hunch. I said the Saint Jude prayer eight or nine hundred times a day. It turns out, on the subject of winning the lottery, I actually was crazy
So, I still don’t have any money. Most publishers consider me to be a crack pot and the things I say invented. (“Why should we believe what you say? Are you an authority? Do you have a graduate degree in motorcycle studies?”) As a result, just about anything I have to say here or in book form is going to have to at least pay for itself. And, God help me, I still have more to say.

Brief Literary Digression

I once asked an Argentine writer named Jorge Luis Borges why he even bothered to write down his stories. I know it was a rude question. I have always been a rude guy and not just to cops, prosecutors and yuppies. Borges told me, “Because I must. Because it is my destiny or my curse.” Personally, I thought the guy was a little on the self-dramatizing side for a man who never won a Nobel Prize.
Somebody once asked Ernest Hemmingway a similar question about why he wrote. Hemmingway said, “Because it is easier than not writing.” I think Hemmingway’s answer nailed the question.
This site is going to continue because, to make a long story short, it is easier to write this ephemera than not write it. And life is short. I write this for me. I don’t write this for money.
I am also quite aware, as the real American hero Jay Dobyns once told me, that I have “about 50 readers” while he is a “best selling author.”
