MILWAUKEE May 26, 2010 The Harley-Davidson Museum is hosting an exhibit on motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel.
Wednesday marks the 35th anniversary of his Wembley Stadium jump in London, where he crashed and broke his back while trying to jump over 13 buses.
"True Evel: The Amazing Story of Evel Knievel" will run from July 10 to Sept. 6.
Among the items there will be his signature leathers and cane, personal photographs and letters, and the half-motorcycle, half-rocket "Skycycle" used to jump the Snake River Canyon. Artifacts will be from Harley-Davidson and the Knievel family.
Knievel, who died in 2007, often used the Harley-Davidson XR-750 and was sponsored by the company in the 1970s.
Knievel's oldest son, Kelly, will be at the museum July 17 to talk about his father.

May 2010 as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month
Deland, FL, April 29, 2010 – ABATE of Florida, Inc., Florida’s largest Motorcyclists’ Rights Organization (MRO), is continually trying to educate the motoring public of motorcycles’ presence on the thousands of miles making up Florida’s roadways. Many of ABATE of Florida’s 32 chapters will be conducting additional functions throughout May, stepping up their efforts during Motorcycle Safety and Awareness month; educating the public that motorcycles are on the same roads as other Florida motorists.
The most recent statistics released from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles show that as of 2008, there were 649,210 motorcycle registrations in FL, an increase of 124% since 2000. Luckily, Florida deaths per motorcycles registered have been on the decrease in recent years, but we ask that this fact does not minimize the attentiveness of those we share the road with.
We further ask that drivers of other vehicles please remember that motorcycles have the same rights as cars and trucks. Distracted driving has become a conversational topic across the nation lately, and Florida is no exception. Drivers paying extra attention when they see or hear a motorcycle may save a life.
Please offer motorcycles more following distance when driving nearby them, and never attempt to occupy the same lane of traffic as a motorcycle.
As in many years past, ABATE of Florida, Inc. has asked the Governor of Florida to declare May as the month dedicated to motorcyclists, in a combined effort to have motorcycle safety and awareness recognized nation-wide. Recognizing the seriousness, Governor Crist has signed a Proclamation stating May 2010 as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness month throughout Florida. Many of our chapters have followed suit with their local elected officials; the signed Proclamations are available on ABATE of Florida’s website at www.ABATEFlorida.com.

Buffalo Chip, S.D. (May 25, 2010) - In addition to the high octane sights, sounds and biker-centric festivities, Sturgis Rally Week at the Legendary Buffalo Chip is all about one thing: motorcycles. Rally-goers from around the world will not only have the opportunity to check out the thousands of bikes that make the yearly pilgrimage to the Chip, this year the premier entertainment venue and motorcycle travel destination will also be hosting the World Famous Rat's Hole Custom Chopper Show.
Considered by many as the Mack Daddy of all custom bike shows, the Rat's Hole Custom Chopper show is the longest running custom motorcycle show in the world. Since its inception in 1973 by founder, Karl "Big Daddy Rat" Smith, the Rat's Hole Custom Bike Show has offered motorcycle fans a glimpse of the finest custom bikes from around the globe. The show has managed to maintain its iconic industry stature by consistently assembling the world's premier custom motorcycles in a fun family-oriented atmosphere at an array of the largest motorcycle events in the world.
Scheduled for Thursday, August 12 on the grounds of the Legendary Buffalo Chip, the renowned Rat's Hole Custom Chopper Show will feature 24 classes as well as a Best of Show award. Due to the show's many successes, it has also recently expanded to include two new classes for Metric Cruisers and Sport Bikes. In addition, this year's Best of Show winner will receive their award on the Legendary Buffalo Chip's main stage before that night's featured performer, Jason Aldean takes the stage.

Spring has Sprung and many towns and counties around the state are repaving with black top, or patching potholes with black top. Contractors often spread some sand on the top of the fresh black top, for some reason when they finish at the end of the day. And then a motorcycle comes along and gets a giant surprise, often right at an intersection........ If you see freshly done macadam, expect sand.
