Independence Day 2014
“We
hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,
that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.––That
to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving
their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
The governed who do lift up their "yea" and "nay" do so amidst the silence of too many. Let's take the time to reflect upon the men, women, and yes, children, who fought & died as the 13 colonies wrested their independence - their very freedom - from the British Empire. Many lawmakers have said that they agree; bikers could well be the last bastion of America's freedom fighters. Within our nation's biker population, less than 2% are within the ranks of freedom fighting organizations that focus on what affects us as riders. Oftentimes it is that 2% who fight against laws or regulations that, while a motorcyclist issue on the surface, could open yet another door to impinge upon freedoms in general. Today we honor those who truly gave their all. In fields seen from the front porches of their homes, in woods with their children also armed, or across miles and miles - away from loved ones, food, warmth, & and safety. It was horrifyingly real and it happened here, not really all that long ago. If you go to our nation's Capitol, you will see a female statue gracing the top of the dome. That is Lady Freedom. She stands facing East, to signify thanks for another day, and to ensure that the sun never sets on freedom. Please join the Motorcycle Riders Foundation today. Renew today.
