OFF THE WIRE
By Howard Taylor, peacetime military veteran, former fire fighter, patriot
For some time I have been aware of the growing problem of police aggression
but until I actually started LawReport.org not even I knew it to be as
bad as it is.
In conversations with people I am frequently left with the impression that
most people do not think police brutality is a problem. Knowing what I know this
puzzled me. The only explanation I could come up with is that most people
probably catch very little daily news and when they do they probably watch the
same source be it the evening news or perhaps going to a web site.
In a typical month they might see one or two stories concerning law
enforcement gone bad so from their point of view I can see why they think this
isn’t the problem we know it to be. Based on this conclusion I decided to put up
a web site that would focus solely on misconduct on the part of the police,
prosecutors, courts and politicians.
It is my hope that when people see this much data concentrated in one spot
they will begin to understand the gravity of the situation. Knowing how links on
the Internet go dead and information disappears I decided these stories need to
be preserved and the only way to do that is to enter them into a database so
they may be available henceforth.
All of the news accounts stored in the LawReport database can be retrieved
through the search page and the data can be filtered through the categories I
have assigned them. As is evident from the web site you are on now there are
many flavors of what we do – LawReport.org is just one of them.
