AUSTRALIA - Colour them banned

OFF THE WIRE
KEEPING bikies in their colours out of bars needs more than bouncers telling them they're not welcome.

Often the bouncers are bikies themselves and refusing bikies entry because of what they wear is not covered by the law.
This is another reason for the Victorian Government to bring in legislation to deal with bikie violence.
Membership in outlaw motorcycle clubs is soaring as gxxgs fight turf wars over the lucrative drug trade. The gxxgs also deal in extortion and debt collection.
Chief Commissioner Ken Lay has confirmed there are 10 current investigations into links bikie gxxgs may have with the force.
Mr Lay does not rule out the possibility that some bikies have become serving police officers.
Some junior police officers have become involved with bikies through gyms and tattoo parlours. Bikies are often gym junkies, especially the gxxg enforcers.
Members from rival gxxgs often clash with each other and enjoy intimidating the public by wearing their colours with names like the Comanchero, Hells Angels and Bandidos emblazoned for all to see.
Bikies wearing their colours in clubs and pubs in other Australian states are being asked to move on.
While the Victorian Government says it is prepared to authorise bans if police ask them to, temporary bans are not enough.
Disbanding bikie gxxgs, shutting down their fortress clubhouses and closing down their criminal enterprises is the real answer.
