CAMBRIDGE — Police say they’ve arrested a Hell’s Angels member after 28 guns and ammunition were stolen from a Dundas Street home.
A 36-year-old Tavistock man is the fifth person charged after the guns and ammunition were taken Feb. 16, 2012. He remains in custody, Waterloo Regional Police report. Police say he’s a member of the motorcycle gang’s London chapter.
He faces charges of unauthorized possession of firearms and possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking; careless storage of firearms; production of controlled substances; possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking; and possession of stolen property, police say.
“As the extensive probe into the circumstances of the incident continued, investigators uncovered illegal drug and firearms activities connected to organized crime,” said Deputy Police Chief Brent Thomlison.
After obtaining search warrants, police seized 25 firearms, more than 14,400 rounds of ammunition and $28,990 in cash.
Police have seized an estimated $852,000 in illegal drugs, including: 10 kilos cocaine, 118 pounds of marijuana, 160 marijuana plants, four ounces of crystal methamphetamine, two vials of hash oil and 31 ecstasy pills.
Two days after the original theft of handguns and long guns a month ago, police arrested four people during and after the raid on a house on King Street in Cambridge.
Two men, ages 23 and 39, and a woman, 37, all of Cambridge face break-in, possession of stolen property and trafficking firearms charges. A Kitchener man, 29, was also charged with firearms trafficking.
All but three of the guns taken during the break in have been found.
