Love or hate Tony and the Sopranos, i think he's likely to remain one of best written characters for many years and this is a great example. His sentimentality earlier in the episode and unusual display of emotion over a song are dealt with by momentarily destroying someone else, in this case a political associate / friend who's dating his ex, but he can't justify killing him and instead does worse, immasculates him in front of her...dark, viciously egotistical and brilliant!?
