Police dob in colleagues over leaks

Police officers have dobbed in colleagues suspected of leaking confidential information to bikie gangs, the NSW Police Force says.
The officers allegedly uncovered misconduct, that members of the force were informing Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCGs) of ongoing police investigations into their behaviour.
The Police Integrity Commission (PIC) in NSW and Victoria's Office of Police Integrity (OPI) are carrying out separate investigations into the alleged leaks, with a small number of police officers believed to be under scrutiny, Fairfax reports.
The PIC, an organisation independent of NSW Police, is tasked with investigating serious police misconduct.
But police say many of the matters were uncovered by their own officers, sparking joint investigations between the PIC and the police's Professional Standards Command.
'The New South Wales police force is aware of allegations of confidential information being leaked to criminals,' a statement from NSW Police said on Tuesday.
'At least two serving members have been charged in separate incidents this year alone with corruption offences.
'A number of other people are facing charges related to the alleged corruption offences.
'New and innovative counter measures have been and are being employed to ensure investigations continue unhindered and the criminals are brought to justice.'
A PIC spokeswoman declined to comment on the investigation.
