State: For bikers, red light may mean go ahead

Those signs that advise motorists to "Start Seeing Motorcycles" are going to take on extra meaning if Illinois lawmakers follow through on a proposed law to allow motorcyclists to ignore red lights.

The Illinois Senate voted 43-12 Wednesday to grant bikers permission to drive through the thousands of red lights triggered by a vehicle waiting at the intersection.

Because of their small size, sometimes motorcycles won't trip the mechanism and bikers are stuck waiting at a red light that never turns green..
