Hemet officers will be out in force Saturday as part of a planned saturation patrol looking for impaired motorcycle riders, according to a Hemet police news release.
The saturation patrol will take place between 6 p.m. 2 a.m.
Officers will be focusing their efforts on motorcycle safety violations and DUI riders, the news release said.
In the past three years, there were 58 motorcycle-related collisions in Hemet, injuring 55 people, the news release said. Most motorcycle collisions result in injury. Motorcycles are inherently dangerous and that danger is compounded when the rider is impaired, and/or riding unsafely, police said.
Funding for this and other DUI saturation patrols is provided to Hemet Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
