Croatia’s motorcycle club Hells Angels (Hells Angels MC Hrvatska) is up in arms after EUROPOL put them on the list of "gangs" that could start wreaking havoc in Croatia.
According to the European Law Enforcement Agency’s report, there is a danger of a growing presence of Hell’s Angels and other "outlaw motorcycle gangs" in the Balkans, including Croatia. Their report links the motorcyclists to the drug trade and other crimes.
But Croatia’s Hells Angels are outraged by such connections and point out that not a single one of their members has ever been charged with a criminal offence. In a press release directed to all local media, the members of the motorcycle club say that the authorities' scaremongering is an attempt to distract the public’s attention from more pressing issues, such as the high level of inter-governmental corruption.
The club says that they do not present any danger to Croatia’s citizens, the portal Monitor writes.
